VOTE NO ON I-177

Montana Citizens Initiative 177 proposes a general outlawing of trapping on public lands in Montana.

We believe that trapping is one of the many opportunities for the citizens of Montana to use and enjoy their public lands, and to harvest wildlife. Well-regulated, science-based trapping has been demonstrated to be a valuable management tool. A blanket outlawing of public land trapping in Montana would not only negatively affect wildlife management, and the health of Montana’s elk, moose and deer populations, but sets a dangerous precedent for other means of public land use and wildlife harvest.
