Last week the Wisconsin state house and senate passed AB 599. AB 599 prevents the DNR from declaring a stream a navigable waterway if a private landowner has dammed that stream. The Wisconsin Chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers strongly opposing any limitations to the use of our public lands and waters. This bill limits the public’s ability to use public waterways, and would strip these streams of their required protections under the Public Trust Doctrine essentially privatizing public waters. Stand with the Wisconsin Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers and tell Governor Walker to veto AB 599 and protect access in our great state.
