Public Service Announcement- WDFW Special Draw Corrections

Author: Dan Wilson
On July 10th, the Department of Fish and Wildlife announced that a complication occurred in assigning special draws results, as well as corrective steps they are taking to address it. We encourage hunters that applied for a special draw, whether you believe you were selected or not selected, to review the Department’s announcement here. As we reviewed the announcement, we were struck by two simultaneous feelings. The first was that glimmer of hope that every hunter has while waiting on draw ...

WY BHA Seeks to Protect Our Investments in Wildlife Management

Author: Bryan Jones
As hunters and anglers, we invest significant time, money, and care into the management of our state's wildlife and habitats. It's our right to protect these investments and ensure that our hard-earned license fees are used wisely, not to fund a damages program that incentivizes wildlife to consolidate on private lands in potential "wildlife refuges"—something our new Director of Game & Fish is aiming to address. However, this is precisely the incentive that will be created if the proposed ...

AFI Event Review (Montana Fly Fishing)

Author: Trevor Hubbs
Event Review 2021 Fly Fishing Dual Skills Camp I had never heard of BHA before this event, and now I visit your website every day for more information and more stories of how I can get involved in conservation. I've been a fly fisherman for a long time, but I'm a relatively new hunter. I didn't come to this camp expecting to learn a lot about flyfishing and to be fair; I didn't. I learned how fishing and the appropriate management of fisheries help conservation. I also learned about the ...

BHA Podcast & Blast, Ep. 184: Save the Cutoff with Texans Bud Morton and Dustin Baker

The bitter tide of privatizing public lands and waters is rising fast across America. Only the actions of quietly heroic citizens can stop it. Nobody who hunted and fished the Cutoff wanted to tell the world about it. The Cutoff is also known as Creslenn Lake, a twelve-mile stretch of what used to be the Trinity River (it was “cut off” by a long-ago flood control project) between Navarro and Henderson Counties about an hour and half south of Dallas, Texas. The Cutoff has been a locals’ top ...
