Pennsylvania BHA Statement on Funding for the Game Commission and Fish and Boat Commission

The Pennsylvania Chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers believes that it is vital to have strong, fully-funded fish and game agencies. The work of these independent agencies is critical to all of our state’s fish and wildlife populations.  Both the Pennsylvania Game Commission and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission rely on license fees for funding rather than appropriations from the General Fund. These fees come from the hunters, anglers and boaters who both value and use the ...

The session brought plenty of challenges, but we were able to push back against threats to public access, bad wildlife management policy and an attack on Habitat Montana – a crucial ...

First Public Land Deer

Author: Joey Bell
I have been a private land hunter my whole life growing up on a farm in middle Tennessee.  It wasn’t until I became involved with BHA that I wanted to take my hunting to another level by spending more of my time on public lands.   I was lucky enough to be drawn for a quota hunt on a heavily pressured piece of public land around Nashville this year.  I got in a couple scouting trips to get a lay of the land, but most of my scouting was done with topo maps thanks to OnX.  I got a pack to haul ...

One Sportsman’s Obsession with Georgia’s Public Lands

By Chris Jenkins Chris is a Board Member and Director of Conservation for the Southeast Chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers and lucky to call the beautiful North Georgia Mountains home. There are a few things in my life that you could classify me as obsessed over, but hunting is by far my most intense addiction. For example, I strive to hunt the entire Georgia deer season in the rut. I start hunting the coastal maritime forests to catch the September and October rut, then I move ...
