AZ BHA Supports Adopt-A-Ranch Program with Cleanup

Last month The Arizona Chapter gathered volunteers for a clean up on the Perrin Ranch in Northern Arizona. The 2 day project had volunteers spread out across the ranch to clean up campgrounds, illegal dump sites, and the ranch’s original ranch house that was formerly used by sheep herders.   Trailers full of tires, wire fencing, trash, old camper shells, and even an abandoned boat were hauled off the landscape. The Arizona Chapter was able to organize this event with the help of the Arizona ...

AZ BHA First Half Legislative Summary - June 2023

Author: Jason Ceola
We are halfway through the legislative year with our representatives back in session since June 12. As usual, many measures were introduced, but very few impactful items related to public-land access actually passed. The main highlights of the first half of the session were the passage of a new budget with public-land friendly allocations, as well as the adoption of a House Concurrent Memorial (introduced by a real estate broker) calling for the sale of public land to solve Arizona’s housing ...

We submitted comments in favor of the BLM acquiring both these parcels, and appreciate their actions in making great use ...

H5174A & S417A are headed to the Governor's desk! On June 15th, the RI House of Representatives voted to approve each, concurring with the RI Senate's approved version. Alaska BHA Partners with Stream Watch Program to Mitigate Bank Erosion on the Famed Russian River

Author: Marc Duval
Of the many things that I remember wanting as a young kid, but not among the few that I never obtained, living in Alaska was in the top two. Early in my military career and after garnering support from my wife in 2012, I re-enlisted in the US Army specifically for a duty station in Alaska. As I drove the Alaska Highway into Southcentral Alaska, I remember thinking “God help me if I ever take this for granted.” As any younger Service Member should, I had another list: achievements - all the ...

Backstory On a cold, dark January evening, the text message went something like, “Hey Leslie, how about being a dessert chef for the Field to Table dinner at the Backcountry Hunters & Anglers Rendezvous this year?” My answer was a hard “Let me think about it,” which ultimately led to a “yes.” Almost immediately I panicked; it was January and I had nothing to forage to make this dessert! So, through January and on through February friends ate many versions of what became a very solid recipe ...
