Big Gumbo Fence Removal - Part 2

  June 21st, 2025 - Volunteers from the Montana and North Dakota chapters gathered in the "Big Gumbo" area just south of Marmarth, ND for part 2 of an ongoing stewardship effort in North Dakota's largest continuous swath of BLM land. In 2024 volunteers "inventoried" fence - mapping unknown fence lines on the map, meanwhile noting the composition and condition of the fence.   Stewardship in Action: Fence Removal, Field Education, and Sweat Equity  On the Thursday leading into Rende 2025, Backcountry Hunters & Anglers and the Missoula BLM field office kicked off the weekend with a boots on the ground stewardship project. EVENT RECAP: USFS And BHA Volunteers Brush Trail in Montana's Flathead Valley

June 28, 2025 - 8 BHA members based out of the Whitefish/Kalispell area of the Flathead Valley, MT, volunteered their Saturday to hike, sweat and build up "conservation Karma" for the coming hunting season. Stinking Springs Fence Pull and Wildlife Friendly Re-build

On May 9-10, BHA volunteers teamed up with the BLM biology department of the Upper Snake Field office to improve fencing around riparian areas in Stinking Springs Canyon Idaho. The removal of dilapidated fencing and rebuild to wildlife friendly fence is intended to improve habitat and water quality in the area. BLM and BHA Volunteers Spearhead Habitat Stewardship Project at Irwin Recreation Site

July 20th, BHA Volunteers joined staff from the BLM, Recreation Dept. and Idaho Fish & Game seasonals to remove a mile of fence at the newly acquired Irwin Recreation Site.     This is part of an ongoing project to improve an nearly 200 acres of land that was destined to become a golf course adjacent to a popular access site to the Snake River. Wildlife Friendly Fencing Modification on the Gas Hills Highway
