Brian Bird grew up on a small family dairy farm in upstate New York. The 400-acre farm was a child’s dream of swamps, deepwoods, and thickets. Brian's first memory of hunting was as a 7 year old, sitting on a milk crate in the hardwoods with his father – a moment that has hooked him ever since. Now, Brian pursues whitetailed deer, turkeys and the occasional small game.

Growing up, the Susquehanna River was Brian's playground where he spent untold hours chasing smallmouth bass and walleye. Today, most of his fishing is through ice on Lake George and Lake Champlain with some spring trout fishing.

Brian’s perception and value of public lands and access deepened while earning his Doctorate degree in Geology from Western Michigan University. Though mostly trapped in a small apartment, Michigan's abundant public lands afforded Brian opportunities to pursue deer, turkeys, and Great Lakes' salmon and steelhead.

Brian – with his wife, daughter, and pup – lives on a small homestead in Whitehall, New York, situated between the southeastern edge of the Adirondack Mountains and the Green Mountains of Vermont at the southern tip of Lake Champlain.
