Summer 2019 Arizona Chapter News

We have been watching a handful of legislative bills that could impact public land access since the beginning of the year. HB2557 was amended to include the previously introduced HB2056 and HB2547 which would establish the Arizona Department of Public Land Management to provide for public land management by the state. It passed through committee and with a little luck and a loud voice from the hundreds of letters sent through our action alert on this bill, it will hopefully never make it ...

Summer 2019 Alberta Chapter News

Some desperately needed moisture for our lands and watersheds arrived in a big way, thanks to a “surprise” spring snow storm at the end of April that covered much of Central and Southern Alberta in the white stuff, the new moisture will replenish the dwindling snowpack in the mountains and keep the mountain streams flowing towards the end of summer.   Our outreach efforts have resulted in explosive growth of our membership, which was reflected in increased attendance at our second AGM in ...

Summer 2019 Alaska Chapter News

The Alaska BHA board asked for help, and our members answered the call. In February, a Board of Game proposal was submitted that would have allowed motorized access into a very popular non-motorized hunting area, the Clearwater Controlled Use Area. Concerned Alaskans submitted written comments and showed up to an Anchorage Pint Night, where Board of Game members descried the process of proposing hunting regulation changes and detailed how to provide testimony during Board of Game hearings. A ...

Ohio's Bass Trash and BBQ bash

From the moment the Wisconsin Glacier receded, the Little Miami River has been a backdrop to the rise and fall of people and the ebb and flow of civilizations. The Paleoindians. The mound builders. The Shawnee and the frontiersmen. And finally, the chaco-clad canoer. It’s easy to see why this little river has drawn so much attention over the years. It winds its way through 107 miles of rich, beautiful country and supports too many species to be named. It is a fantastic fishery and, for folks ...

The graphic included with the article mistakenly did not show Minnesota as offering these discounted student rates, which it does. The below article, contributed by the Minnesota DNR, details their R3 and student recruitment ...
