CO BHA Publishes Memo on Illegal Trails

Outdoor recreation is part of our Colorado identity and values, it shapes our communities and how we live our lives. While the growth in outdoor recreation is to be celebrated, it also poses a significant and dynamic threat to wildlife, the loss of habitat. The scale and pace of this habitat loss are alarming and it underscores a growing need for guidance and leadership from state and federal agency partners. To sustain healthy wildlife populations, it's imperative that we ensure the habitat ...

Colorado BHA Wildlife Guzzler Project

Project Description Thanks to the hard work of BHA volunteers in June and July we were able to remove a wildlife guzzler that was in disrepair and complete the installation of a new guzzler and rain collector that will benefit wildlife in the area. This project required some real sweat equity, and we are grateful for the support of our volunteers and the leadership of our project organizers.  The drinker is located in Jefferson County southeast of the community of Buffalo Creek and will ...

Checking In With Our Access Raymond Commission Tag Winner

About this time last year the Wyoming Chapter launched our Access Raymond Raffle which raised $47,000 through a commissioner tag generously donated by Commissioner Gay Lynn Byrd. We donated these funds to Wyoming Game and Fish to construct infrastructure needed to utilize an access easement secured by RMEF. Through our combined efforts the public now has access to the 33,000 acre Raymond Mountain Wilderness Study Area. We thought we'd check in with the winner of this tag to see how his hunt ...

Wyoming Year End Accomplishments

2021 was a big year for Wyoming BHA. All told, we raised over $100,000 for public access. We helped expand access to 33,000 acres of premier backcountry and we are pushing back against attempts to lock us out of our public lands. We fought a land exchange that would have resulted in the loss of quality backcountry hunting grounds. We removed miles of fencing, cleared miles of trail, collected tons of garbage, and organized multiple events that ranged from CWD workshops to a trapping and bird ...
