Headline: New Hunters Find Success in Adult Mentored Hunting Program

New and novice hunters were successful in yet another adult mentored hog hunt through Texas BHA’s R3 program, in partnership with Texas Wildlife Association and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The three hunters shot, cleaned, and processed 10 hogs in an educational weekend overseen by several hunting guides who presented gun safety education and a full field-to-table processing experience.

The hunt was conducted on 2,500 acres of private land outside of Newcastle in Young County. John Sertel, Texas BHA’s R3 chair, said it was a great experience for everyone involved and noted that the sausage that they sent the hunters home with was particularly good.

If you’re interested in getting involved with Texas BHA’s R3 program as a volunteer, guide, landowner, or new hunter, send us an email at texas@backcountryhunters.org.
