Winter 2020 Pennsylvania Chapter News
In August, the Pennsylvania chapter continued to bolster their habitat improvement work throughout the state with their 3rd work day of the year at Raccoon Creek State Park’s Wetland Trail. The Pennsylvania Chapter has adopted the wetland trail and is actively seeking members to help with yearly maintenance. Members also continue to maintain fishing line disposal bins at the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
The Pennsylvania chapter got a head start on a busy Public Lands Month by starting a few days early with a BHA Tailgate at the Penn State vs. Idaho football game. On September 8, Pennsylvania chapter members attended the Sportsmen’s Advocacy Workshop hosted by BHA, Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership and Trout Unlimited.
Elsewhere in the state, PA chapter members and members of the Clarion University Collegiate Club spent the day cleaning up Pennsylvania’s River of the Year, the Clarion River. In early September, the Pennsylvania chapter submitted a letter of support to the House Game and Fisheries Committee as part of a Public Hearing on Sunday Hunting.
Chapter leaders continued to work with other conservation groups throughout the state to prioritize hunting and conservation issues during the first Pennsylvania Conservation Conference. On September 16, the Pennsylvania chapter hosted their first Public Land Owner Film Fest in Bethlehem. We ended Public Lands Month with a pint night at North Country Brewing Company on National Public Lands Day.
