Caitlin Thompson / Wednesday, August 14, 2013 / Categories: Media, State Issues The West Mountain Wildlife Management Area This was a letter wrriten to Doug Morin on behalf of the New England BHA Chapter:Dear Mr. Morin:We write on behalf ofthe New EnglandChapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers (BHA). Backcountry Hunters & Anglers seeks to ensure America’s outdoor heritage of hunting and fishing in a natural setting, through education and work on behalf of wild public lands and waters. BHA’s members greatly value the remaining undeveloped, natural areas of our national forests and other public lands. We work collaboratively with other stakeholders to maintain the backcountry values of solitude, silence, clean and free flowing rivers, and intact and interconnected habitats for large, wide-ranging wildlife.Continued restrictions on the use of motorized vehicles in the West Mountain Wildlife Management Area a revital to the protection of wildlife habitat and biodiversity and to the original intent of the Core Area. Consequently, we would like to enter the following comments on the updating of the West Mountain WMA Plan: We support continued restrictions on motorized access in the Core Area. We support the planned closure of roads in the Core area. We support the continued ban on ATV use in the entire WMA. We support the continued practice of locking gates on the adjacent Plum Creek lands except for one week just prior to and during the moose season and for planned logging activity. Thank you for taking our views into consideration as you update the management plan.Sincerely yours,Eric Nuse and Tovar Cerulli, Board Members Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, New England Chapter PO Box 82Montpelier, VT 05601 www.backcountryhunters.org Previous Article Thompson-Seton Peak by Mule & Foot Next Article OR BHA's O&C Lands Recommendations Print 3 Rate this article: No rating Tags: New England issuesNew England Chaptermedia Caitlin ThompsonCaitlin Thompson Other posts by Caitlin Thompson Contact author
