Speak up again to keep Hawn's Peninsula wild and public

The Pennsylvania Chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers is committed to speaking up for hunting and fishing access and habitat for wildlife and fish. In June 2018, the Pennsylvania Chapter came out in opposition to a plan by a developer from Texas to lease 400 acres of wild federal public land managed by the United States Army Corps of Engineers to build a resort on Hawn’s Peninsula along Raystown Lake in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. Click Here to see maps of the planned development.

The Pennsylvania Chapter urged members to oppose the development by making comments to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Now, the USACE has completed their Draft Master Plan for Raystown Lake and are soliciting comments from the public. The draft plan does NOT change the classification of Hawn’s Peninsula to high-density recreation, which would support the marina development. Of the comments submitted to the Corps with a ratio of 3:1 opposed any sort of reclassification for development or high density recreation.

We are again asking our members to support public hunting and fishing on Hawn’s Peninsula by voicing support for the Draft Master Plan and its protection of Hawn’s Peninsula. You can submit your comments to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the following link:
