New England BHA Chapter / Thursday, February 27, 2020 / Categories: Media, Chapter News Rhode Island BHA Weighs in on first 2020 Captive Hunting Proposals in House Committee For the second year in a row, bills intended to prohibit captive hunting in Rhode Island have been introduced in the General Assembly. H 7305, introduced by Representative McNamara and company, and H 7308, introduced by Representative O’Brien and company, have both been scheduled for a public hearing in the House Committee on Environment and Natural Resources in State House room 203 on Thursday, February 27th 2020 at the Rise of the House. While we fully support the intent of these bills – to prohibit captive hunting in Rhode Island – we’ve also identified concerning loopholes in the proposed language and are working to address them and fully protect our native wildlife and ecosystem from the potential threats that captive hunting would present.
