NEBRASKA BHA FENCE REMOVAL PROJECT: Recap

On March 16th Nebraska Backcountry Hunters and Anglers hosted a fence removal project at Nebraska Game and Park’s Wapiti Wildlife Management Area in the Loess Canyons south of North Platte. As the name suggests the 1920 acre Wapiti WMA is home to elk but is also great habitat for mule deer, white-tailed deer, and turkey. Fourteen volunteers completed removal of a barbed wire fence, and net wire fence, on the southeast section of the WMA. Three of the volunteers drew gifts from generous BHA corporate sponsors; one pair of Irish Setter boots, a Yeti cooler, and an On-X subscription. Following fence removal BHA board members cooked delicious tail gate elk tacos.
