ParkmontButte, MT59701 To Whom it is Concerned, I am writing this letter to give the support of the Montana Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers (MTBHA) to the acceptance of a donation of three parcels totaling roughly 258 acres owned by Montana’s Outdoor Legacy Foundation. The acquisition, identified in project number MTM-110482 will increase access and opportunity in the area surrounding the Toston Dam on the Missouri River. We believe that the proposed actions management emphasis of managing these lands for big game habitat, protecting Threatened & Endangered species and their habitats as well as managing for recreational opportunity is an excellent use for these lands. MTBHA is a chapter of roughly 3,000 members that advocate to protect available parcels of fish and wildlife habitat as well as protect and increase access to provide hunting and fishing opportunity. Our organization advocates for healthy, connected habitat for wildlife, open spaces, and the continuity of Montana’s heritage of working lands. The management emphasis of this project align with our organization’s values because of our desire to protect vital wildlife habit while also improving access for hunting and fishing in the area.
