Conservation Organization Transparency and Accountability

6-22-2012

Dear Utah BHA members. There has been a proposed rule change submitted to the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. The proposed rule change would cap the amount of funds a conservation organization can keep at 10%. This rule change would bring the convention tags sold at the Outdoor Expo under a similar set of rules and accounting procedures as currently exist for the conservation tag program. Utah Backcountry Hunters and Anglers support this rule change. Proper accounting and handling of public resources, is something we must demand. This rule change will help ensure that funds generated through the sale of convention tags, is put on the ground, through conservation programs, that benefit hunters and wildlife. We ask that you please contact the division, the Wildlife Board, and the RAC members, and tell them to support the rule change. Please pass this along to other hunters as well, and thanks for your time.

The proposed rule change can be seen here.

The Division can be contacted here: DWRcomment@utah.gov

Wildlife Board members can be found here.

The RAC members can be contacted here.
