Colorado Backcountry Hunters & Anglers Appoints Brennan Tauber And John Chandler To Social Media Manager Positions

The Colorado chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers recently appointed Brennan Tauber and John Chandler to Social Media Manager positions.

Brennan Tauber

Brennan is a lifelong angler and fairly new bird (e.g., turkey, grouse, waterfowl) hunter. “My grandparents introduced me to angling as a way to spend time outdoors and that passion left its mark on me,” he said. “They’ve helped make me the person I am today. I’ve developed self-reliance and a deep respect for wildlife and their habitats.”

“Today I mostly hunt/fish on public lands, especially in the Pike National Forest. I grew up in Castle Pines and was part of the Sedalia Boy Scout troop,” Brenna added. “We’d go camping in the Pike almost monthly and it’s a special place for me given how it formed me as an outdoorsman. While my current journeys take me across Colorado and beyond, it holds a special place in my heart.”

Brennan has been an active BHA member for several years and loves volunteering and the fellowship with fellow hunters and anglers. “I’m excited to be able to help spread the message, given the negative stereotypes portrayed by anti-hunting groups,” Brennan explained. “I’d like to help change that perception and talk about how important the North American wildlife management model is to maintaining our shared heritage.” “More outreach to anglers is an opportunity to change some preconceived notions about the role hunting/angling plays in conservation,” he added.

John Chandler

John has been hunting for 15 years (mostly archery, big game and small) and fishing his entire life (primarily fly fishing for trout). “I spend as much time as I can on public lands, hunting, fishing, skiing, biking, camping,” he said. “I’m lucky to live very near public lands and I love advocating for public lands and wildlife habitat.”

John joined Backcountry Hunters & Anglers 10-12 years ago and learned about BHA at a hunting film fest in Gunnison. He has been a Gunnison County Group Leader for approximately five years. John was also recognized as the BHA Member of the Month during May 2023 for his Colorado Public Lands Day Bash work.

He’s also an excellent communicator and public speaker. “I have helped organize the Colorado Public Lands Day Event in Gunnison for BHA the last two years along with other smaller BHA events,” John explained. “I frequently volunteer for the Crested Butte Mountain Bike Association.”

“I would like to see BHA grow its membership and event attendance in Colorado. I would like to see the organization be quicker to involve itself in key issues throughout the state,” John added. “I would also like to see BHA grow its sponsors and thank those sponsors in a more thorough and regular fashion. I believe I can help grow BHA’s relationships with other organizations in the state and involve a growing and consistent volunteer base.”
