Pennsylvania BHA / Friday, November 8, 2019 / Categories: Media, State Issues BHA and Game Commission team up for live Q &A on chronic wasting disease In response to a slew of questions from members about chronic wasting disease in the Keystone State and the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s (PGC) CWD Draft Management Plan, the PA Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers held a Facebook Live Q & A November 7. Chapter Secretary Don Rank and Courtney Colley, Game Commission CWD Communications Specialist, fielded questions for about a half hour live from the PGC’s Harrisburg headquarters. Kicking off at noon, the event was timed to give working folks a chance at logging on during their lunch hour to watch and ask questions. Questions were also solicited in advance from members. About 80 individuals tuned in to the live broadcast and within 24 hours about 500 people had viewed the recording. “The leadership at PA BHA wanted to do a Facebook Live event to augment the public CWD information sessions the PGC is doing at venues all across the state,” said Rank. “We thought it would be a good way to reach hunters and others who may not be able to make it out to one of those events and our friends at the game commission agreed.” To watch the Q & A, visit the PA Chapter Facebook Group at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/PennsylvaniaBackcountryHunters Additional information about CWD, including the draft management plan in long and short versions, can be found on the PGC website at: https://www.pgc.pa.gov If you have questions for the PGC about CWD, ask them via email at: Infocwd@pa.gov or call the CWD hotline at: 1-833-INFOCWD.
