Help protect young American chestnut trees by installing protective wire fencing around pre-set posts. In partnership with Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, USFS, and Friends of LBL.
When: Saturday, October 25 • we will meet at Fenton Self Service Campground at 8:30 AM. 9:00 AM event start time. Who: Open to BHA members and other volunteer groups (all skill levels welcome). What: Wire installation around preset wooden posts.
What to bring/wear:
•Long pants, sturdy closed-toe shoes •Plenty of water and your own lunch •Sun/bug protection recommended
All tools, materials, and PPE will be provided courtesy of USFS.
Notes: This is hands-on, outdoor work. We’ll brief everyone on safety and tasks on arrival so we can split into teams and work efficiently. We are not meeting at the work area to protect the exact location of these vulnerable trees. The work area will be a short walk from parking.
RSVP appreciated so we can plan gear and crews.
