MISSOULA, Mont. —Backcountry Hunters & Anglers (BHA) today applauded the U.S. Senate’s confirmation of Brian Nesvik as Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). A seasoned wildlife manager, lifelong hunter, former warden, and most recently Chief Law Enforcement and Director of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Nesvik brings decades of experience in wildlife management and conservation enforcement to the role.
Brian Nesvik’s background reflects a strong commitment to science-based management of fish and wildlife and the North American Model—priorities shared by BHA and our members across North America,” said Devin O’Dea, Western Policy & Conservation Manager for BHA. “We look forward to working with him to advance conservation and expand hunting access across the wild public lands that matter most to our members.”
The USFWS plays a critical role in sustaining America’s outdoor heritage, from managing national wildlife refuges and conserving imperiled species, to operating fish hatcheries and distributing Pittman-Robertson funds, which support state-led wildlife conservation efforts.
BHA looks forward to working with Director Nesvik to ensure these programs continue to deliver real results for wildlife, habitat, and the hunters and anglers who help fund them.
Backcountry Hunters & Anglers seeks to ensure North America's outdoor heritage of hunting and fishing in a natural setting, through education and work on behalf of wild public lands, waters, and wildlife.
